🚲⚡E-Bikes & Electric Motorcycles Safety⚡🚨

E-bikes (electric bicycles) and electric motorcycles are not the same — and the laws for where they can be ridden are different too.

The Washington Traffic Safety Commission has a helpful guide explaining the rules for e-bikes, electric motorcycles, mopeds, motorized foot scooters, and more: https://wtsc.wa.gov/erideguide/

❓Did you know: Riders of Class 3 e-bikes must be at least 16 years old.

⚠️Electric motorcycles are considered motor vehicles and:
• Are not allowed on sidewalks or in most pedestrian areas
• Require a motorcycle endorsement, registration, and insurance
• Cannot legally be operated on public roads without meeting those requirements

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Parents and guardians: You may be held responsible if your child operates one of these unlawfully.

The laws are in place to protect riders, pedestrians, and everyone sharing our roads and trails. Please take a few minutes to understand the rules before you ride and help keep our community safe and livable for everyone.
