We were honored to attend the 2026 Annual Luncheon hosted by the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington and join community leaders dedicated to strengthening our region.

May 29 is 529 Day, a good reminder to revisit one of the most common ways families save for education.

A 529 plan is a tax-advantaged account designed for education expenses. You contribute after-tax dollars, the funds can be invested for growth, and withdrawals are generally federal income tax-free when used for qualified education expenses. 529 plans are sponsored by states, state agencies, or educational institutions.

In simple terms, it works like this:

⚪️ Open the account for a beneficiary

⚪️ Contribute over time

⚪️ Let the funds grow

⚪️ Use them later for qualified education costs

Qualified expenses can include college and other post-secondary education costs, and in some cases, tuition for elementary or secondary school.
