Today we celebrate Reverend Dr. DeForest B. Soaries. He is a prominent figure in the African American community, known for his work in finance, social justice, and ministry. He is the founder of mydfree.org, an organization that aims to help individuals and families achieve financial freedom.

Born in New York City in 1951, Soaries grew up in a working-class family and faced financial challenges from an early age. However, he was determined to succeed and went on to earn degrees from Fordham University, Princeton Theological Seminary, and United Theological Seminary.

In the 1990s, Soaries became the first African American to serve as New Jersey's Secretary of State. In this role, he focused on improving voter registration and election processes, and also worked to address issues of housing, education, and economic development in underserved communities.

In 2005, Soaries founded mydfree.org, which stands for "Making Your Decisions Free." The organization provides resources and tools to help people achieve financial freedom, including debt reduction strategies, budgeting tips, and financial planning resources.

Today we celebrate “ Bernard J. Tyson” The first Black CEO of Kaiser Permanente was Bernard J. Tyson. He served as CEO from 2013 until his death in 2019. Under Tyson's leadership, Kaiser Permanente became one of the largest not-for-profit health plans in the United States and made significant investments in technology, care delivery, and community health initiatives. He was also recognized for his efforts to advance equity and diversity in the healthcare industry.
