Congratulations to the New Hartford and Notre Dame baseball teams on winning their respective Section III championships.

New Hartford took the Class A crown with a 12-0 win over Cortland and Notre Dame claimed the Class B title beating Bishop Ludden-Grimes 8-3.

There is a special Oneida County connection to these teams as well, as District Attorney Todd Carville is the head coach of Notre Dame and Youth Bureau Director Kevin Green is the head coach of New Hartford. Great jobs guys!

County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. today announced the Oneida County Industrial Development Agency has approved a new Uniform Tax Exemption and Agency Benefits Policy aimed at expanding housing development opportunities throughout Oneida County.

“This is another major step forward in our effort to tackle the housing shortage that is impacting communities across Oneida County,” Picente said. “This policy expands the housing projects that can qualify for incentives through the IDA and creates new opportunities for developers to build the workforce, senior and owner-occupied housing our communities desperately need. It builds on our existing mixed-use housing policy and demonstrates our commitment to creating more housing options throughout the county.”

June is Pride Month, a time to recognize the contributions, history and experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals in our community and across our nation.

Oneida County is strengthened by the diversity of the people who live, work and raise their families here. This month serves as an opportunity to reflect on the importance of treating one another with dignity, respect and understanding.

As we celebrate Pride Month, let us continue working together to build a community where everyone feels welcome and has the opportunity to succeed.

The Oneida County Office Building and Parking Garage in downtown Utica will be lit in rainbow colors in recognition.
