TORNADO RISK: We're at a 9, and we've stretched the area to include a vast majority of our WCIA area.

Tornadoes and 80-100 mph possible with round #1, significant tornadoes also on the table for round #2.

A ***WORST CASE SCENARIO*** with Round #1 unfolding. We believe the potential for widespread 80mph+ wind gusts with 100mph+ gusts possible.

This is WELL on its way to being classified as a derecho.

This will ALSO be VERY challenging for messaging with the afternoon round with widespread power outages possible. The severe weather threat will NOT be over after this.

It doesn’t matter if you’re Enhanced or Miderste, 8 or 6 on the tornado risk, etc.

ALL of us in the WCIA area have a real risk today. The atmosphere doesn’t do what it’s trying to do very often at all on a day like today. You should always respect tornado warnings and take action, but if there’s a day to consider being a little more extra aware, this is it.

Best case, we’re extra vigilant and get through both round #1 9a-2p and round #2 4p-11p a little inconvenienced.

This is one of those days that has some potential to be very serious, and I am rather concerned with what could happen.
