Big Credit Score News — But Not Immediate
The FHFA just announced a major policy update: lenders will soon be allowed to use VantageScore 4.0 — not just FICO — when underwriting loans for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
📉 FICO’s stock took a hit, and credit bureaus backing VantageScore saw a small rise.
👀 Why it matters: More competition could eventually lead to lower costs, fairer scoring, and expanded access for borrowers — but full rollout details and timelines are still pending.
