If you have a home in the disaster area, get in touch with your mortgage servicer who you make your payment to and let them know you need to apply for the disaster forbearance if you cannot make your payment. This will save you from more long term negative effects on your credit. (I know, it is the last thing you tend to think about when you lose everything),
