Medicare has a lot of moving parts, and it can feel like one more thing on a long list. Here are 3 simple ways to help:

1️⃣ Mark the dates. Annual Enrollment runs Oct 15 – Dec 7. Put it on both your calendars.
2️⃣ Check their doctors. Make sure the doctors they see are still in their plan’s network.
3️⃣ Join the conversation. Sit in when they talk with Jim, so you both get your questions answered.

Plans can change from year to year, even when nothing seems different on the surface. A little time now can save your family a lot of stress later.

Turning 65 soon? Here’s what most people don’t realize about Medicare. 👇

Your sign-up window isn’t a single date. It’s a 7-month window: it opens 3 months before your birthday month, includes your birthday month, and closes 3 months after.

Why the timing matters:

📅 Signing up early can help your coverage start on time. Waiting until the last minute can leave a gap.
⚠️ Missing your window can lead to late penalties. In some cases they last as long as you have the coverage.
📬 Medicare isn’t automatic for everyone. If you’re already receiving Social Security benefits, you’re usually enrolled automatically. If not, you’ll need to sign up yourself.
💼 Still working at 65? Your timing may be different if you have employer coverage, so it’s worth checking before you decide.
