That was a month to forget. As expected, things did not go very well. The market seems to not like the tech earnings so far, even though they are making far more money than ever. The market erased over 5 trillion dollars in value and almost exclusively by AI and tech firms.

An interesting report came out over the weekend claiming that this is"octoberization" . A uncommon term meaning negative suprises in the month of October. However, heading into mid-term elections, in 19 of 19 cases in the past 50 years, the market ended strong.

Could it be different this time? Sure. However, history can be a powerful indicator.

The AI and speculative stocks had been like a slow leaking tire the past few weeks, but yesterday they had a nice bounceback. There wasn't really a reason, so it's still to soon to see if it will hold.

The rest of the market remains fairly strong, but that could change quickly if the Fed decides to raise rates yet again.

The overall market has basically done nothing for 3 months. Technical analysts call this consolidation and are watching for a breakout, either down or up.

Absolute destruction in the tech market right now. Today will not be any different.

At the same time, the DOW looks to remain solid. Inflation reports, increase in bond yields, and rates moving up have smacked the tech market in the mouth.

As we stated, it's a tough time of year for stocks and that has mostly been the case. It to should pass as the economic numbers are still fairly strong. Don't get us wrong, there are a few cracks, but overall, things are not terrible. Those that have been calling for a crash are claiming victory and saying this is not over so as always, we shall see.

Treasury yields hit the highest level since 2002. The market will most likely feel those effects today.

While all the news is talking about how the S&P 500 made a new high yesterday, the damage behind the scenes is palpable. It seems the index is being held up by behemoth tech companies that investors still have an appetite for.

Things just don't feel very nice right now and the moves in treasuries and the dollar will certainly shake some investors. Will the contagion spread from small caps and speculative names into the major indexes? Only time will tell, but it is certainly on our radar.

While the major indexes have been very neutral for about four months now, the internals have been pretty negative.

How do we know this? The vast majority of speculative and small company stocks have been bleeding. Selling pressures have been slightly elevated, while the buying seems to be in treasuries and short term bonds.

While the economy seems to be doing pretty well, the market always wants to look forward and high oil and a ten year high in mortgage rates is spooking some. It's a bit comical to think that 7% rates are at an extreme.

As we mentioned, this is a seasonal slippery slope. While the major indexes have held up okay due to a few big names, behind the scenes, it's like watching a tire deflate. Little by little, things continue to fall.

We can see from the bond market that the Fed's rate raise was a suprise to them. Most probably thought they would just do nothing.

Next we go into Oct. A time known to have big suprises, both positive and negative. Things are feeling a bit negative, and there are so many voices talking about a crash that it wouldn't suprise us if they talked themselves into it. The economy is doing well enough that a crash is a bit speculative in our opinion but a correction may be overdue.

Market making a bit of a comeback today after a few weeks of getting stomped. The market has not done much since the end of May. As we stated last time, the market is in a seasonally weak period and that has shown to be the case so far.

Many big bank analysts have changed tone and are now saying an all out crash is coming and some traders are taking that pretty seriously. Many others have claimed the same thing for the past two years and the market keeps brushing it off.

Are we overdue for a correction? Probably. Even after the rough past few weeks, we are not seeing enough destruction to say it's coming yet. That could change very quickly with the wrong news so we continue to watch very closely.

We are now entering the two worst months of the year for the markets on a historical basis.

They have not followed that pattern the past few years, but this year, there is much to fret about. That still doesn't mean that things will repeat themselves but it's something to watch.

The market has been pretty soft this month and really hasn't gone anywhere the past few. That is mostly due to the war in Iran. Oil rallied again today and Brent looks like it's over $100. When oil spikes, the market will respond.

Market will most likely open down and has been under a bit of pressure the last week.

The spike in oil prices are the main concern. Seeing Crude back over $85 is worrying traders.

On the surface, it has done very little to the averages, however, behind the scenes, the moves are often dramatic. Some analysts say that the incredible moves are a sign of a market that is ending it's cycle and predict downside. It could also just be consolidation, which is a sideways move in the markets before they break out again. Time will tell.

12/08/2026

After two days of negativity, we are getting a third. Yes, the markets are up, but that's on the back of a handful of stocks. Behind the scenes, there are a lot that are down so far today.

Earnings have been coming fast and furious. Most have been pretty good so far and corporate America seems to be doing well. As always, the punishment for missing earnings in an overvalued market is pretty steep, but fortunately we are not seeing a ton of that.

Some big voices continue to squawk that are crash is inevitable. Who knows, they may be right, but we won't know that until it's happening.
