So you're ready to move out of your parents' house, you've saved your deposit, but are you mortgage ready? a
Here are a few things you should consider checking before you begin the mortgage application process:
• Make sure your credit report is in the best possible shape before a lender looks at it.
Checking your own rating is viewed as a soft check and won't impact your score.
• Make sure your paper work is in order.
You are going to need a passport, at least three months worth of bank statements and pay slips (or two years' worth of audited accounts if you are self-employed).
• Most lenders also want you to have at least one utility bill in your name at your current address.
• Make sure you are on the electoral roll (you can still do this even if you live at home with your parents).
