Excited to share that I passed the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC™) exam this morning!

Individuals who hold the CRPC™ designation have completed a course of study encompassing pre-and post-retirement needs, asset management, estate planning and the entire retirement planning process using models and techniques from real client situations. Additionally, individuals must pass an end-of-course examination that tests their ability to synthesize complex concepts and apply theoretical concepts to real-life situations.

If something happened to you tomorrow, who would raise your children and how would they afford it?

If your plan is for siblings, parents, or close friends to step in, life insurance is not optional. It is essential.. It is the financial foundation of that plan.

Raising children means housing, food, healthcare, school costs, activities, and time away from work. Without life insurance, the people you love most are being asked to shoulder that responsibility alone during the worst moment of their lives.

Naming a guardian is only part of the plan. Funding that decision matters just as much. Life insurance gives your children stability and gives their future caregivers the ability to say yes without fear or financial strain.

If you have minor children and anyone other than a spouse would care for them, this is a conversation worth having now. And frankly, if you have a spouse you should have life insurance to financially support them raising your children as well.

Protect the people you love by planning for the unthinkable.

High income earners over the age of 50 have an important 401(k) change to prepare for in 2026.

Thanks to the Secure Act 2.0, if your wages exceed the F**A wage base limit of $145,000 for 2025, your 401(k) catch up contributions will soon be required to go into a Roth account instead of pre tax. You can find this amount in box 3 of your w-2 when you receive it.

This means your catch up dollars will no longer reduce your taxable income in the year of contribution. Instead, they will go in after tax and grow tax free for retirement. For many savers, this creates a shift in tax planning strategies, especially if you have relied on the pre tax catch up to lower your adjusted gross income.

A few key reminders:
• The rule applies only if your prior year wages exceed the F**A limit
• Only the catch up portion is affected
• Your standard employee deferrals can remain pre tax or Roth
• Your employer must offer a Roth option for you to be able to contribute the catch up amount

If your income is above the limit, now is the time to review your retirement plan contributions, tax strategy, and long term projections. A coordinated approach can help you make the most of the change.
