Matrimonial Tuesday : What happens financially when life interrupts the household?

Marriage isn’t only about building a life together. It’s also about preparing together. An unexpected event can interrupt income overnight. Today I’m asking: if one income disappeared temporarily, what financial bucket would your household reach for first?

Three buckets :

- Emergency savings
- Protection
- Long -term growth

Which area does your household need to strengthen ?

Matrimonial Tuesday I Marriage, Money & Changing Roles

What happens financially when the role you've traditionally played in your marriage begins to change?

Maybe one spouse has always handled the money.

Maybe one stayed home or remained more available to the family.

Maybe you've depended heavily on one income, one retirement plan, or one person's financial decisions.

Then life changes- and suddenly you realize:

I need to understand my financial position too.

That realization doesn't have to be a declaration of war against your spouse.

It can be an invitation to wisdom, stewardship and preparation.

Joshua stood before a wall he couldn't bring down himself. His responsibility wasn't to force the outcome- it was to obey God's instructions and keep walking.

Sometimes our financial "lap" looks like:

Learning where the household stands.
Understanding insurance and beneficiaries.
Building savings.
Beginning to invest.
Preparing for emergencies.
Creating income.
Asking difficult questions about the future.

Financial education isn't preparing for your marriage to fail.

It's preparing yourself to steward wisely whatever tomorrow brings.

💭 Couples, here's today's question:

If something unexpectedly happened to either spouse tomorrow, would both of you understand the financial plan well enough to continue forward?

That's a conversation worth having.

Before the walls Fall... Keep Walking...

As I wind down this leadership Monday, one thought keeps coming to me:

God directs our steps.

Today wasn't about seeing every wall fall. it was about taking the next obedient lap- following up, addressing financial concerns, building new relationships , funding necessary business expenses, getting organized, researching what comes next, and preparing for opportunities before they arrive.

I circled back to a personal step of faith and applied myself again after going through financial obstacles myself. I've made changes since then, gained wisdom, and now circling back - not knowing the outcome, but trusting God with my responsibility to prepare.

Some breakthroughs require us to stop forcing the outcome and start faithfully preparing for it.

Joshua didn't knock Jerichos's walls down himself. He followed God's instructions until the appointed time.

What "wall" are you standing in front of - and what is the next step you already know you need to take?

If finances are one of those walls, I have a local financial workshop soon where we'll talk about saving, investing, protection, and preparing for life's unexpected events.

And there's more coming this week - filming Thursday with a possible podcast share Friday.

Maybe it needs another lap.

LEADERSHIP MONDAY | Lead Yourself First

What happens when you finally see where you are financially- and the picture isn’t where you want it to be?

No savings.
No retirement started.
No protection in place.
Income that doesn’t always feel predictable.

The temptation can be to look at the wall and say, “ I can’t do this.”

But what if you don’t have to conquer the whole wall today?

What if you simply need to take the next lap?

Joshua 6 reminds us that Jericho didn’t fall on the first trip around the wall. God gave instructions, and the people had to keep walking in obedience before they ever saw the result.

Financial progress can look the same way.

Your first savings deposit may be small.
Your first investment may be a seed.
Your first protection plan may require rearranging some priorities.

But small doesn’t mean insignificant.

Leadership begins with leading ourselves - taking what is in our hands today and intentionally directing it toward where we want to be tomorrow.

Before saying “ I can’t afford to prepare,” ask:

What am I currently funding that I’m willing to temporarily rearrange so I can begin?

You don’t have to have everything figured out.

But you do have to take the first lap.

📣 Financial Workshop- Coming in 9 Days

We’re going to talk about the Three Financial Buckets:

💰Saving
📈 investing for the future
🛡️ Preparing for life’s unexpected events

Come learn. Ask questions. Look at where you are without judgement and begin creating a direction for where you want to go.

Your financial Jericho may be standing today- but that doesn’t mean you stop walking.

23 years standing side by side has taught us a lot about building a life. Today, I’m learning that the greatest growth begins when I stop depending solely on my own strength and invite God into what I’m building. By wisdom a house is built. - Proverbs 24:3

Fresh start. New opportunities. same God. Now we build with Him.

Empower Hour I Matrimonial Tuesday

A Empowerment thought for today :

Don't let scorekeeping become the language of your relationships.

When we continually replay what someone did, what they said, how much we gave, or how badly they failed us, resentment slowly takes over the space where healing could happen.

Forgiveness does not remove accountability. It does not mean allowing repeated destructive behavior. But forgiveness does release our need for revenge.

Take a moment today and ask:

What am I carrying that is costing me peace?

Release the offense. Keep the wisdom. Establish the necessary boundaries. Allow God to work on your heart while He works on the situation.

"Be Kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." - Ephesians 4:32

It's Time to Reintroduce Myself.

I have been quiet on Empower Hour for the last few months- BUT I haven't stopped learning, growing, or living through the very financial conversations this page was created to address.

Im Amanda Rodríguez, a licensed Financial Representative, wife, mother , entrepreneur , and a women of faith with a passion for helping women and families become more intentional about their financial lives.

Empower Hour exists to make financial education practical.

We are going to talk about the things that affect real households: budgeting, debt (oh my my debt!) income, insurance, investing, retirement , marriage and money, preparing for the unexpected, and building something that can be passed to the next generation.

YEah, and were going to talk about real life.

What happens when income changes?
What happens when debt starts piling up?
Does a wife understand the family's finances?
Is a single women financially preparing for a marraige - or simply preparing for a wedding?
What happens financially after the death of a spouse?
Do our children understand the financial decisions were making today?

Look , this is coming from me, someone who didn't just need financial questions answered, I needed life questions answered!!!

My goal isn't simply to tell people what financial products exists. I want to help women understand financial principles, ask better questions, have necessary conversations, and make informed decisions for themselves and their families.

Ill be sharing opportunities to continue these conversations in person, including an upcoming local workshop on September 2.

So whether you're married, single, rebuilding, starting over. getting out of debt, building wealth, or simply realizing 'I need to understand this better - welcome to Empower Hour.

Were learning together, applying what we learn, and building with intention.

Lets get Empowered.

Proverbs 12 reminds us that wisdom is not acquired overnight.

Knowledge comes through study, but wisdom comes through observation, experience, and consistent application. Every day we choose to listen , learn, and grow, we are making deposits into life built on wisdom.

Don’t be discouraged if you don’t understand everything today. Keep showing up. Keep reading. Keep observing . Keep applying.

Small daily deposits produce lasting fruit.

Family Thursday| Act of Honor

This morning Proverbs 11:9 reminded me that wisdom provides a way of escape. God often gives warnings, counsel, dreams, and opportunities to choose a different path before a trap becomes a stronghold.

As a parents, spouses, and loved ones, we cannot force people to walk in wisdom. We can speak truth, pray faithfully, and trust God will the outcome .

Today’s Act of Honor is simple:

Ask a father, husband, son, brother in your life :

“ How can I support you?”

Honor is more than appreciation- it’s partnership.

Sometimes the greatest gift we offer is a listening ear , a prayer , an encouraging word, or a will to stand alongside someone carrying responsibility.

May we build families rooted in Gods wisdom and trust Him with those we love.
