𝗠𝗲𝗹𝗯𝗮'𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆: Melba dreamed of opening a daycare to provide quality childcare in her community. Melba used her life savings, as well as some funding from her daughter, to get the business started, but it still wasn't quite enough to handle the many projects needed to meet the strenuous regulations for daycares.

Thanks to our partners at her local SBDC, Melba was referred to Lending Avenue to bring this dream back to life. "We were already in disbelief because we'd already been turned down [by others.]," Ms. Wiley said. "When we went to talk to them, they were so compassionate and they showed us that they valued what we were doing."

Melba and her daughter are now running a very successful daycare in Longview, Texas, and will soon be ready for more funding in order to expand their business.

𝗠𝗲𝗹𝗯𝗮'𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆: Melba Wiley's dream of owning a daycare started when she became a mother to a premature baby girl. Like any mother, she wanted the best care for her daughter, but she was not comfortable putting her child in daycare at the time.

She began an in-home daycare on a very small scale, but that dream did not last. After many years working for Child Protective Services, Melba, and her daughter, decided it was time to return to that dream of serving the families and children of their community through childcare.

Melba used her life savings, as well as some funding from her daughter, to get the business started, but it still wasn't quite enough to handle the many projects needed to meet the strenuous regulations for daycares.
