Key Facts About the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program:

✅ Starts July 1, 2026

✅ Scheduled to run through December 31, 2027

✅ Available to eligible Medicare beneficiaries enrolled in Part D or MAPD plans

✅ Provides access to certain weight-loss GLP-1 medications for a $50 monthly copay, including:

Wegovy® (injection and oral)
Zepbound® (KwikPen formulation only)
Foundayo®

Important Distinction:
The Bridge Program is for obesity/weight management treatment.
If a beneficiary is taking a GLP-1 for a condition already covered by Medicare Part D—such as:

Type 2 diabetes
Certain cardiovascular indications
Other approved covered uses

they will generally continue obtaining coverage through their existing Medicare prescription drug plan rather than the Bridge Program.

Cost Considerations
The $50 copay is:

Outside the Part D benefit structure
Not subject to the Part D deductible
Does not count toward TrOOP (True Out-of-Pocket) costs
Does not count toward the annual Part D out-of-pocket maximum

Eligibility Requirements
Beneficiaries must:

Have qualifying Medicare drug coverage
Meet specific clinical criteria related to obesity/weight management
Obtain prior authorization through their healthcare provider
Participate in required counseling or weight-management activities, if applicable
