THE WAY WE PLAN: Relationships before meetings.

As I open the Patterson Andrews office here in Auburn, I’m taking a little time to meet people as I fill the calendar.



I’m having breakfasts.

I’m having lunches.

I’m playing golf. (Or trying.)

I’m listening to stories and getting to know the community I’m now fortunate to call home.

Because I believe something pretty simple:

Relationships come before meetings.

At Patterson Andrews, that’s also how we approach financial planning.

Before I talk about investments, I want to understand the person sitting across from me.



Where are you today?

Where do you want to go?

What does your life look like right now?

What might change in the next year, five years, ten years—and eventually, retirement?

Those answers matter.

The Person before the Plan.

A financial plan shouldn’t begin with a portfolio or a retirement projection. It should begin with understanding you.

My goal is to meet you where you are and help you get where you want to go—with a plan built around your life, your goals, and the things that matter most to you.

Because before I can plan for your future, I need to know you.

When’s the last time you sat down and really talked with your financial advisor?

Not just received a statement.
Not just checked an app.
Not just looked at a number on a screen.

I mean actually sat down and talked.

Where are you today?
Are you still on track for the life you want?
Have your goals changed?
Do you understand what’s happening in your accounts and why?
What questions have you been carrying around that you haven’t had a chance to ask?

This is exactly why I make an annual meeting with my clients a nonnegotiable.

I may understand your finances and where they are.

But do you?

And just as importantly…

Do you feel good about where we are?

Because my job isn’t simply to manage money. It’s to build a relationship with you—to understand your goals, your priorities and what matters to you, and to make sure you understand how your financial plan is working toward those things.

Life is fluid. Your plan should be, too.

Your family changes. Your goals change. Markets change. Retirement gets closer. Businesses change. Priorities shift.

Sometimes those changes mean we need to make adjustments.

And sometimes they don’t.

Sometimes the most valuable thing that comes from sitting down together is simply clarity.

Knowing where you stand.
Having your questions answered.
Understanding why things have changed.
Making sure your goals and your plan are still aligned.

And sometimes, it’s just the peace that comes from sitting across the table from someone you trust and saying, “Okay. I understand where we are, and I feel good about where we’re going.”

That’s the value of a relationship.

We’re excited to be getting settled into the Auburn community!

As Patterson Andrews continues to expand its footprint, I’m looking forward to getting to know the people and businesses that make Auburn such a special place, building new relationships, and finding opportunities to do good work here.

For me, the best work has always started with good people and genuine relationships. I’m excited to build both in this community.

As I turn 46 today, I can’t help but reflect on how much there is to be thankful for.

This year has brought some big changes for our family, including a move to Auburn and, for the first time in a long time, having all of us in the same city limits. That alone feels like a gift.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with birthday wishes, texts, calls, and messages today. Your kindness means more than you know.

I’m also excited about what lies ahead professionally. As Patterson Andrews Wealth Management continues to grow, I’m looking forward to expanding our footprint here in Auburn and building new relationships within this incredible community. Helping families, business owners, and individuals pursue their financial goals has always been meaningful work, and I’m excited to see what this next chapter holds. Our feet are on the ground, and our hands and hearts are ready to serve.

As we settle into Auburn, I’d love to continue growing my network and becoming more connected to this community. If there’s someone you think I should meet—a business owner, community leader, professional, or simply someone doing great things in the area—I’d be grateful for the introduction.

Seeing my son blowing bubbles in the dugout 23 years after a photo of me doing the exact same thing is a reminder that the little things often mean the most. And just like those simple shared moments, every financial decision we make—no matter how small—adds up over time.
