ROAD TEST WAIVER PROGRAM ENDING: The Wisconsin Road Test Waiver program will end on Dec. 31, 2023. All student drivers under 18 will need to complete in-person road tests at DMV locations starting Jan. 1.

The Road Test Waiver pilot program began in May 2020, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of the pilot, the Wisconsin DMV tracked potential safety implications and found no negative effect on driver safety. As of Aug. 31, over 130,000 people have utilized the road test waiver.

With many local power outages we wanted to share some tips to keep plumbing from freezing:

1. Keep the water dripping at faucets to keep the water circulating, or run each faucet intermittently.

2. Turn off the main supply valve.

3. Keep cupboard doors open to let heat in.

4. Close off unplumbed rooms and attached garages in an effort to keep heat in the plumbed areas. Keep overhead garage doors closed.

5. Install insulation or makeshift insulation such as towels or blankets around exposed plumbing.

6. Run a generator to keep heat going.
