Feeling tense after a long meeting or hours at your desk? 🧘 We’ve all been there. Small wellness habits during the workday can make a big difference.

Take short stretch breaks and practice deep breathing during your work day to help reduce muscle tension, improve circulation, and support focus.

Simple ideas to try:
✔ Stand and stretch every hour
✔ Roll your shoulders and stretch your neck (or try a seated “cat-cow” stretch in your chair)
✔ Take a few slow, deep breaths before or after a stressful meeting

Even a one-minute break can help reset both your body and your mind. The key is to do it often and build it into your routine for maximum benefits.

Should kids have smartphones before middle school? 📱 A recent study of more than 10,000 adolescents found that children who owned smartphones by age 12 were more likely to experience depression symptoms, sleep problems, and higher obesity risk. Researchers say the study shows a link, not a direct cause, but it suggests early smartphone use may influence these important aspects of health and wellness.

For many families, the question isn’t just if kids should have smartphones — but when and how to introduce them responsibly. If you're considering when to introduce a smartphone, experts often suggest:
• Start with a basic phone if communication is the main goal
• Set clear screen-time boundaries, especially before bedtime
• Delay social media access when possible
• Keep open conversations about online experiences

Did you know your group health plan may include “ghost providers”?

These are doctors and specialists listed as in-network — but when employees call, they find out the provider has moved, isn’t accepting new patients, or was never actually participating in the network.

It may seem like a minor directory issue, but it can lead to:

• Delayed or avoided care
• Frustrated employees
• Surprise out-of-network bills
• Increased long-term claims costs

In today’s environment, access to care is just as important as premium costs. A large provider directory doesn’t always mean better access — especially if the information isn’t accurate.

Employers should be asking important questions during renewals:

- How often is the network updated?

- How are inactive providers removed?

- What does true access look like for our employees?

Healthcare is complicated enough. Your benefits plan should work for your team — not create additional stress.

If you’d like to review your current network or explore options that improve access and employee experience, let’s connect. We’re here to help you make informed decisions about your group health strategy.

Medicare is changing in six states — and many beneficiaries don’t even realize it yet.

The new WISeR (Wasteful and Inappropriate Service Reduction) Model is a Medicare pilot program that adds prior authorization requirements for certain procedures under Original Medicare (Part A and Part B).

If you live in Arizona, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, or Washington, this could affect you.

Services now subject to additional review may include:

• Epidural steroid injections
• Spinal cord stimulators
• Knee arthroscopy for osteoarthritis
• Cervical and lumbar spinal fusion
• Certain wound care services
• Implantable pain pumps
• And more

This doesn’t mean care will be denied — but it may mean additional documentation, prior approval, and possible delays before certain procedures are covered.

Understanding how Medicare policy changes impact your coverage is important — especially if you rely on specialized treatments or pain management services.

If you have questions about how WISeR could affect your Medicare coverage, reach out to a licensed insurance professional. A knowledgeable broker can help you review your plan, understand your rights, and make sure you’re prepared.

Staying informed today can help you avoid surprises tomorrow.

If you’re concerned about how a beneficiary might handle a large lump sum because they are too young, have an addiction, have a disability, or have had a history of poor financial choices, a trust may help protect both your legacy and your loved one.

A properly designed trust can:
• Distribute income over time instead of all at once
• Protect assets from creditors
• Preserve eligibility for benefits like Medicaid
• Set clear milestones for distributions
• Provide oversight through a trustworthy trustee

Estate planning is about care and long-term stability. Leaving an inheritance should create security, not stress. If you have concerns about leaving money outright to a child or loved one, explore your options with a trust.

👁️ Glaucoma is sometimes called the “silent thief of sight.” That's because about half of people who have it don’t even know it, and vision loss is usually permanent. The early stages of glaucoma typically have no symptoms.

The only way to detect glaucoma early is through a painless eye exam. Medicare Part B covers a glaucoma screening once every 12 months if you’re at high risk. This includes those with diabetes or with a family history of glaucoma, as well as those of African American ancestry over 50 and of Hispanic ancestry over 65.

If you’re in a high-risk group, talk to your doctor about scheduling a screening.

Medicare covers screenings every 12 months for people at high risk for glaucoma. Learn more.

Case Study: A Cancer Scare on a High Deductible Health Plan

Ever wonder what really happens when you get sick on a High Deductible Health Plan? Meet Marcus, a 52-year-old freelancer. He didn’t think much about his health plan — until sudden symptoms led to a scan and ultimately to a cancer diagnosis, surgery, and radiation. He learned a lot about coinsurance and high deductibles.

What followed included:
✔️ Multiple specialist visits
✔️ Imaging, lab work, outpatient surgery
✔️ Post diagnosis, surgery and radiation therapy

Marcus had an HDHP with a $6,000 deductible and $8,000 out-of-pocket max. He ended up paying the full amount in just over seven months. So $8,000 later, he’s healthy but reconsidering what “affordable” coverage really means. It wasn’t cheap, but it could have been far worse: his total billed care was over $33,000.

Now cancer-free, Marcus is rethinking his options before next open enrollment. Would a lower-deductible plan or critical illness coverage have made more sense?

Real stories like this are why coverage clarity matters.
