ABAT worked with the Bill Author to make sure it was a fair and equitable piece of legislation. And we think he got it right.

Right On Crime applauds the signing of Oklahoma SB 1618 by Governor Stitt into law 🎉

This legislation will strengthen communities by advancing pretrial public safety reports to ensure bail decisions are based on risk factors rather than a person’s ability to pay.

It’s nothing more than a failed social experiment. At the expense of the victims of crime!

The Bail Project strives for a more perfect justice system, one that works for all people no matter their race or wealth. By providing free bail assistance to those in need, we restore the presumption of innocence, reunite families, and gather evidence for change. By advocating for better policies,....

This may be one of the most powerful and heartbreaking videos you will see.

The father of 22-year-old Logan Federico stood before Congress and unleashed raw, anguished screams at Democrats after his daughter was dragged from her bed, forced onto her knees, and executed in cold blood.

The killer had been arrested 39 times and had 25 felonies on his record.

Yet he was still on the streets.

The father’s pain is visceral and impossible to watch without feeling rage at a system that repeatedly failed to protect innocent people.

Logan’s life was stolen because dangerous repeat offenders are given chance after chance while families pay the ultimate price.

Every single person who helped keep this criminal free bears responsibility. This level of systemic failure is unforgivable.

A Las Vegas sheriff is defying a court order to release a career criminal with 35 prior arrests, sparking a legal standoff over public safety and judicial authority.

Sheriff Kevin McMahill refused to release 36 year old Joshua Sanchez-Lopez after a judge granted him house arrest for a grand larceny charge in early 2026.

The suspect has a lengthy criminal record in Las Vegas, Nevada, including a conviction for involuntary mansla*ghter.

McMahill argued that the suspect poses an unreasonable risk to the community and has a history of cut ankle monitors.

In a previous incident, Sanchez-Lopez allegedly posted a photo of his discarded electronic monitor on social media after fleeing from police.

The sheriff’s department filed a petition with the Nevada Supreme Court to clarify who has the final word on inmate releases.

The suspect's defense attorney maintains that the sheriff is overstepping his legal bounds by ignoring a judge's directive.

As of May 2026, the Nevada Supreme Court is reviewing the case to determine if law enforcement can legally block court ordered releases.

Sanchez-Lopez remains in custody while the high court weighs the balance between defendant rights and executive authority.

The ruling is expected to set a major precedent for the Nevada justice system.

PASSED! Congrats to Rep. Scott Fitzgerald on passing the Keeping Violent Offenders Off Our Streets Act, which increases accountability for large-scale bail operations by treating organizations that post bail for criminal defendants like insurance businesses under federal law.
