Jolly Crop Insurance will be closed Monday, September 7th for Labor Day.

A few fall reminders as we head into September!

If you’re planting wheat, call us when you plant. We can look at Annual Forage and your other insurance options. August-planted wheat needs to be reported by Tuesday, Sep 8th.

Cotton bole counts are coming up too. They can come 120 days after planting, so give us a call if you need to get on the list.

They'll look at summer grain now, and your milo can be left for cover. Just let us know that’s the plan.

Here are the 2025 cotton area yields for most of the counties we service.

A quick refresher on the area plans:
• STAX begins paying below 90%
• SCO begins paying below 86%
• ECO begins paying below 95%
• MCO begins paying below 95%, with additional margin-loss requirements, and is new to 2026 crops

Additionally, last September, as part of the Big Beautiful Bill, cotton producers had a one-time opportunity to opt out of STAX. Looking at these final county results, that decision proved to be the right one in our area.
*We'll know even more about how good the choice to opt into PLC and out STAX was when FSA releases the 2025 PLC payment rate.

You'll notice Castro County irrigated cotton is highlighted. The county area yield finished at 87% of expected. However, the county revenue finished at 82% of expected, resulting in irrigated STAX and SCO payments. Meaning option out or staying in was a great choice, as PLC will likely also pay.
