CALL TO ACTION. Senate Bill 267, sponsored by Senator Steinborn, would classify skunks and coyotes as furbearers and require the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish to set bag limits for them. Coyotes and skunks! Let that sink in. For most species to have a bag limit you have to have a license first. So now you’ll need a license to get rid of the skunk that is haunting your chicken coop, or the coyote that is eyeing your chihuahua? This is regulation run amok. Senate Bill 267 will be heard this Tuesday morning, March 7th, at 7:30 a.m. in the Senate Conservation Committee, room 311. Please either attend the meeting or call the committee members below to voice your opposition to this overreaching piece of legislation.

The legislature still continues to squabble about the budget, finances and who is going to take the biggest cuts with little spending reform in the cards.
