You already know that you become eligible for Medicare at age 65. But what if you don’t enroll? In some cases, you could face a penalty when you do enroll later (in the form of higher premiums). But there are exceptions to this rule.

FYI... a quick read about lowering insulin prices.

Healthcare is a common cause for debate in the US, with all of us hoping for lower prices and improved access to medical services. But for people living with diabetes, the price of insulin has often been a scary challenge to their quality of life. Vital to controlling blood sugar and keeping many di...

Rylee's Corner

Hi, it’s me Rylee again and welcome to my corner. I am not sure if you remember me telling you about my mom, Kimberli Karmenzind. She asked me to remind all of you that it is Open Enrollment season for Medicare. I am not quite old enough to qualify for Medicare now, but I will be in about 3 years. I kinda like James Thurber’s perspective on aging. He said being 65 puts him in with the seniors. But if there were fifteen months in every year, he’d only be 48.
Don’t forget to reach out to my mom if you have any questions about your plan (current or soon to be 65). She would be happy to help. Give her a call at (520) 251-4491
Until next time,
Rylee

Hi it’s me, Rylee again.
Welcome to Rylee’s Corner. You will never believe what day it is. It’s National Love People Day! And next to dogs, people are my favorite people. The purpose of the day is to show unconditional love to everyone, even your neighbors who take oranges off your tree without asking. It is a day to literally love your neighbor as yourself. It is a great start to making the world a better place. So, on National Love People Day, offer kindness and care to the people in your community. Then tell them a Knock-Knock joke.
Rylee: Knock-Knock
People: Who's there?
Rylee: Hugh!
People: Hugh who?
Rylee: Hugh's a good puppy?! Me!!! I'm a good puppy!

Until next time,
Love, Rylee

Hi Folks, Rylee here and welcome to my corner. I want to be the first to wish you the happiest National Guacamole Day! I love guacamole. Not necessarily to eat myself but I love watching my mom eat it. It makes her happy and when she is happy… well…it means more cuddles for me. My mom is an awesome cook. My favorite thing she makes are ice cubes. YUM! But I guess guacamole is good too because it is actually full of all the healthy fats and nutrients people need to help keep up with their pups. By the way, do you know what a duck says after he’s eaten an avocado? “Guac! Guac!”
Until next time,
Rylee

How to handle quarantine fatigue -
Social distancing is one of the most effective ways to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Staying apart has saved lives.
Progress toward reopening can be slow and have setbacks. As a result, many may have bouts of quarantine fatigue. Many of us are teleworking and taking care of family while staying at home. It can all be stressful and may cause:
• Increased irritability
• Trouble sleeping
• Eating more or less than usual
• Feeling run down
• Experiencing a lack of motivation
To get through these times, it helps to have some coping mechanisms.
Tips to thrive
If you're feeling restless and weary, the American Psychological Association and other experts offer these tips to cope with the mental health effects of the pandemic and social isolation:
Remember you play an important role. You have more control of the pandemic than you may think. You are helping to slow the spread of the virus by social distancing. You are making a difference. So try to focus on the good you're doing.
Take a few deep breaths. When you feel worried or upset, take a few minutes, breathe in deeply, and try to relax your body and mind.
Get a move on. Move your body either in the comfort of your home or outside while social distancing. Exercise lowers stress and lifts your mood. Visit the “Get Fit. Don’t Quit!” website for at-home workouts.
Reach out. If you can't be with loved ones, stay in touch with calls, video chats, or social media. Staying connected (even virtually) is even more important right now.
Keep a gratitude journal. Each day jot down a few words about what went your way. When you examine your journal, it may help you find hope and positivity.
Limit the news. It's important to stay informed. But constant COVID-19 news can fuel your fears. You can turn to public health agencies like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for reliable updates.
If your stress becomes overwhelming, call your doctor. It's also important to check with your primary care provider if you find yourself using alcohol or drugs to cope.
And remember, we're all in this together.

My Mask Protects You.
Your Mask Protects Me.

As Arizona and states across the country reopen, our health risks will increase. With more exposure to each other and no vaccine for COVID-19, we remain vulnerable to the virus.

There’s one important step you can take as a courtesy to those around you. Simply wearing a mask in public can help us protect each other. KJK Insurance Advocates is fully supporting The Greater Phoenix Leadership’s “Mask Up Arizona” campaign, and asking each of you to please use a face mask when going out in public.

While masks can’t prevent a person from catching COVID-19, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that wearing a cloth mask can help prevent people from transmitting the virus before they are aware they have it. Masks also remind others to continue with physical distancing.

A few tips for wearing masks effectively.

Wear a cloth mask:
Because surgical masks and N95 respirators are critical for healthcare workers, the CDC recommends everyone else use cloth masks.

Masks work best when they:
• Fit snugly but comfortably against the sides of the face
• Include more than one layer of fabric
• Allow for easy breathing
• Can be washed and dried without changing shape

The CDC has tips for making and wearing face masks, and other important guidelines.

How to get the most protection from your mask
• Before using your mask and after taking it off, always wash your hands.
• Be careful not to touch your eyes, nose, or mouth when wearing or taking off your mask. If you do, wash your hands.
• Replace masks after they’ve become damp.
• Remove your mask from behind to avoid spreading germs. If it is a single-use mask, discard it in a trash can that has a lid. Put cloth face masks in a secure place until you can wash them in hot water.

Who shouldn’t wear a mask
• Children under age two
• Anyone who has trouble breathing
• Anyone who is unable to remove the mask without help

Wearing a mask shows you care, encourages others to do the same, and can make a big difference in keeping everyone safe.
