Being born and raised in O'Fallon, I wasn't accustomed to farming in any real sense. When we moved to Lincoln County, I thought myself completely schooled on the subject. But it wasn't until we moved to our new house that I came to fully appreciate the hard work and sacrifice that is farming. In harvest early morning hours, you can hear the grain dryers and tractors in the distance... when even the birds haven't deemed it time to rise and only the night insects contribute to the whispers of ambient noise. And late at night when everyone has retired to their homes, the tractors and trucks still labor their way back and forth, bringing in their crops. So this fall, I'm sending a prayer of gratitude, bounty, and above all safety for my farming neighbors near and far. Thank you for what you do!
