“Raise your hand if you don’t have a will or trust.”
(After asking the question, I wondered if I was going to get scratched from the next 4th of July gathering.)
Many around the fire reluctantly raised their hands.
It led to a lively conversation where we ended up discussing estate plans and attorneys that could help. Another family member even offered a $$ incentive for those without a plan in place to complete the task before our next gathering.
So now we have “ailment hour” (so we don’t spend too much time on our aches and pains the whole weekend), “music hour” (a live performance by the water…a family favorite), and this latest installment, “planning hour.”
The rest of the time we spend celebrating our family. Fingers crossed I’ll be invited back.
