“I didn’t change anything, so I should be fine.”

We hear this all the time.

And it makes sense.

But here’s the part most people don’t realize…

Health insurance plans change every year
even if your life doesn’t.

That can mean:
• Higher premiums
• Different deductibles
• Changes in what’s covered
• Shifts in doctor networks

So while everything may feel the same… your coverage might not be.

That’s where unexpected costs and surprises come from.

Not big life changes. Just quiet updates.

Even if nothing has changed on your end, it’s still worth taking a quick look at your plan.

Because staying the same doesn’t always mean staying protected the same way!

One of the biggest misconceptions about health insurance is...

You can sign up whenever you want.

Unfortunately… that’s not how it works.

There are specific enrollment periods:
• Open Enrollment (once a year)
• Special Enrollment (after certain life events)

If you miss those windows, your options can become very limited.

We’ve seen people get stuck simply because:
• They didn’t realize they qualified for a special enrollment
• They waited too long to take action
• Or they assumed they could “do it later”

But later isn’t always available.

If something in your life has changed recently, it’s worth asking:
“Does this give me a chance to update my coverage?”

Because if it does…
that opportunity won’t last forever.

Starting your own business or going independent is exciting.

But there’s one thing that quietly disappears in the process…

Employer health insurance.
And suddenly, you’re responsible for figuring it all out on your own.

What plan makes sense?
How much should you spend?
What coverage do you actually need?

A lot of people either rush into a decision…
or put it off completely.

Neither feels great once you actually need care.

Health insurance isn’t just another task on the list.
It’s protection for the things you can’t plan for.

If you’ve recently gone self-employed, or you’re thinking about it,
it’s worth getting clarity here early.

It makes everything else feel a lot more stable.

Turning 26 is a big milestone.

It’s also when many people age out of their parent’s health insurance.

What catches people off guard isn’t just that it happens…it’s how fast it happens.

There’s usually a limited window to get new coverage in place.

Miss it, and you could be left without options for a while.

And then come the questions:
Do I go on COBRA?
Join an employer plan?
Look at marketplace options?

It can feel overwhelming, so people wait.

And waiting is where gaps happen.

If someone in your family is approaching 26, now is a great time to start looking at options! Before the deadline makes the decision for you!

Moving doesn’t just change your address.
It can change your entire health plan.

New city. New state. Fresh start.

But health insurance doesn’t always follow you the way you expect.

What changes:
• Provider networks (your doctor may no longer be covered)
• Plan availability (your current plan may not exist where you’re going)
• Pricing structures (same coverage, different cost)

Even a local move can impact:
• Which hospitals are “in-network”
• Which specialists are available
• How referrals work

The assumption is simple:
“I’ll just keep what I have.”

That’s where problems begin.

Because coverage is built around geography…
not just the individual.

If you’ve moved,
or are planning to,
don’t assume your coverage comes with you.

A quick check now can prevent a much bigger surprise later.

When your baby is born,
you typically have a 30-day window to update your health insurance.

That sounds simple.

But here’s what happens in reality:

You’re exhausted.
You’re overwhelmed.
You’re focused on everything except paperwork.

So decisions get rushed.
Or delayed.
And sometimes missed.

Which can mean:

- Coverage gaps
- Unexpected costs
- Limited options

The best time to think about your coverage isn’t after your baby arrives.
It’s before.

If this is on your horizon, let’s make sure you’re ready.

✨ Thirty-five years of excellence deserves to be celebrated in style. ✨

We had the honor of hosting our 35th Annual NBP Awards Banquet at the beautiful Mint Conference Center in Southfield. An evening of elegance, gratitude, and well-deserved recognition for the incredible independent agents who make our company what it is.

2025 was nothing short of remarkable, and none of it would have been possible without the passion, dedication, and hard work of our amazing agent family. These individuals show up every day embodying the values we hold closest — honesty, integrity, and a genuine willingness to help others — and it was our privilege to celebrate them.

From the office staff to every agent in the room, thank you! You are the heartbeat of what we do, and nights like these remind us exactly why we love this industry.

Here's to 35 years of excellence and many more to come!

Most people think making more money
is always a win.

And it is… until your health insurance bill shows up.

What a lot of people don’t realize is that health insurance costs,
especially through the marketplace, are directly tied to your income.

So when your income changes, your coverage costs can change too.

That can mean:
• Losing premium savings
• Paying more each month than expected
• Or missing out on savings if your income actually went down

We see this catch people off guard all the time.
Not because they did anything wrong…
but because no one told them how it works.

If your income has changed this year, even a little,
it’s worth taking a second look at your coverage.

A quick check now can save you from a bigger surprise later!
