Bank of Dade was proud to host a wonderful Medicare Education event yesterday at the Historic Dade County Courthouse.

A special thank you to Jeff Harris with Compass Advisors for providing such an informative presentation and for taking the time to answer so many great questions from attendees. We also appreciate Bart Brannon and Gage Baker with River City Wealth Management for providing food and drinks, and our friends at McDonald’s for supplying the coffee.

Medicare education is so important in helping individuals avoid costly penalties, prevent gaps in coverage, and choose plans that fit their unique healthcare and financial needs. Understanding Medicare empowers people to make informed decisions that can help protect both their finances and overall well-being throughout retirement.

Bank of Dade hopes to offer a similar educational opportunity closer to the Medicare Open Enrollment period later this fall, along with additional financial education events and resources throughout the remainder of the year.

Today is National Senior Fraud Awareness Day — a reminder to help protect the people we love from scams and financial fraud.

At Bank of Dade, we encourage seniors, caregivers, and families to stay alert for common warning signs:

• Unexpected calls, texts, or emails asking for personal or banking information
• Pressure to “act now” or keep the situation secret
• Requests for gift cards, wire transfers, cryptocurrency, or payment apps
• Messages claiming to be from a bank, government agency, tech support, or a loved one in trouble
• Links or attachments from unknown senders

A few simple steps can make a big difference:

✅ Hang up on suspicious calls
✅ Never share your online banking password, PIN, or one-time security code
✅ Verify requests by calling a trusted phone number directly
✅ Talk with a family member or trusted friend before sending money
✅ Monitor accounts regularly and report unusual activity right away

The Bank of Dade family is deeply saddened by the passing of Linda Jean Tipton.

Jean was a valued member of our team for 28 years, serving our customers and community with kindness, dedication, and grace. Her warmth, gentle spirit, and caring heart left a lasting impression on those who had the privilege of working alongside her and being served by her.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to her husband, Garry; her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and all of her family and friends. Jean’s legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to be remembered by our Bank of Dade family and the community she touched so deeply.

🚨 Fraud Alert – Bank Impersonation Scam 🚨

Scammers are sending texts that look like they’re from Bank of Dade or our fraud monitoring partner Shazam, asking if you made a purchase. If you reply NO, they call pretending to be the bank and try to get your card information. They may then make a fake charge and tell you to approve it.

Bank of Dade and Shazam will never ask for your full card number, CVV, PIN, or one-time passcodes.

Never approve a transaction you didn’t make.

If you receive a suspicious text or call, hang up and call the bank directly at 706-657-6842.
