BIG NEWS FOR NVFD!
The Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department is proud to announce that we have been awarded a $10,000 grant through the State Farm Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program, in collaboration with the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC)!
We are honored to be one of just 150 volunteer fire departments nationwide selected to receive this funding.
This grant will allow NVFD to purchase 28 new high-visibility ANSI/ISEA Class 2, all-weather 3-in-1 firefighter jackets and three Motorola Minitor VII pagers.
The new jackets will provide our members with improved weather protection and visibility while operating at emergency scenes, particularly during roadway incidents, severe weather, and nighttime operations. The new pagers will replace aging units and provide our volunteers with more dependable emergency alerting when they are away from the station.
As a 100% volunteer fire department, every piece of equipment we put into the hands of our firefighters helps us safely answer the call and better serve our community.
We are incredibly grateful to State Farm and the National Volunteer Fire Council for recognizing the needs of volunteer departments like ours and investing directly in the safety of the men and women who volunteer their time to protect their neighbors.
