I have been saying this for YEARS since the whole Uber/Lyft/Sidecar/whatever the heck has become a craze…..
"…..personal car insurance policies exclude coverage for business use of a vehicle….If you’re responsible for an accident that costs more than your insurance will cover, you’re still financially responsible for the full loss. If you don’t have enough insurance, you could be putting your home and your savings at risk."
And of course, those of my friends have laughed it off, insisting I am WRONG and that there is ample coverage for driver and passenger, clearly I don't know what I am talking about.
Yeah, what do I know? I am only the one with the Effing insurance licenses in several states and the 8 years of experience that goes into being a broker but please, impart your non-licensed insurance wisdom on me bc I don't read insurance contracts every stinking day of my life!
These companies care about themselves and their profits, not you as their "driver." Only recently have they even been made to provide a better level of insurance to their drivers but that doesn't mean it's enough.
PLEASE---if you drive for any of these companies----READ THIS ARTICLE!!!!! It was sent by my rep at Mercury and is probably one of the best, all-emcompassing articles written on the subject.
