Ted and Pat Jones — the second managing partner of Edward Jones, and his wife — didn’t just leave behind a legacy of leadership and love: They reshaped Missouri's landscape. The couple led the charge to convert the abandoned MKT rail line into the Katy Trail, now the nation’s longest recreational rail-trail at 240 miles. Their story lives on through the Katy Trail and conservation landmarks that welcome millions.
On April 26, Edward Jones colleagues, retirees and community members gathered across four Katy Trail trailheads to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the trail’s founding. At the Treloar Trailhead, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to commemorate the new Ted and Pat Jones Welcome Center. We couldn't be prouder that Ted and Pat's legacy of conservation lives on still today.
The Katy Trail activities were brought to life through collaborations with Missouri State Parks and retired Edward Jones General Partners Dan and Connie Burkhardt. The Burkhardts are founders of Magnificent Missouri, a not-for-profit that advocates for the Katy Trail, and Dan Burkhardt is also a trustee of Ted and Pat Jones' estates. The Treloar Mercantile was donated by the Burkhardts to Missouri State Parks in 2024 for use as the first State Parks welcome center on the Katy Trail and is supported by a $250,000 gift from Edward Jones.
Join us in celebrating several events across Missouri and along the Katy Trail in honor of Ted and Pat Jones.
