First Neighbor Bank, along with the Mattoon Chamber of Commerce, were proud to host a Ribbon Cutting and Open House on Tuesday, May 12th, celebrating the new home of First Neighbor Wealth Management and First Neighbor’s Loan Operations in Mattoon.

Representatives from the Mattoon Chamber of Commerce, First Neighbor Bank, and First Neighbor Wealth Management were joined by area individuals, businesses, and community organizations for the special event.

Located adjacent to our First Neighbor branch at 808 Broadway Ave. E., the new building reinforces our continued commitment to serving Mattoon and the surrounding communities with exceptional financial services and support.

Today, we celebrate and say Happy Work Anniversary to Heather McElravy. Heather's role at First Neighbor Bank is Toledo Branch Manager and Collections Officer. Heather began working with First Neighbor on May 8, 2001 and is celebrating 25 years.

"As Collection Officer, I get to work with people who are have problems and work out a plan with them to help get them back on their feet again.", Heather said of her role/contribution to First Neighbor. She adds, "I love being able to help our community members and appreciate the fact that we truly are a small town, community bank."

Heather described her time with First Neighbor as a true blessing where customers and co-workers have become friends.

Today, we recognize and say Happy Work Anniversary to Kevin Jansen. Kevin is Vice President and Loan Officer for First Neighbor Bank and is celebrating 25 years. Kevin's first day with First Neighbor was on May 7, 2001. Customers have seen Kevin at both of our Toledo and Neoga branch locations.

Kevin stated that "One of the things I value the most about working here is the relationships I have made over the years, whether they have been with fellow co-workers or the many customers. I truly feel I have met many good people over the years." He added, "My time with the organization has been fulfilling. They say that time flies and it sure does. It seems like it was just a few years ago they said I was the young one here. While I still feel that way, when I look around it sure doesn’t appear that way. Maybe time flies when you’re having fun."

We are going to be highlighting some of our staff members who have been a part of the First Neighbor family for quite some time. This is our way of saying "Thank you!" as we celebrate their work anniversary and to show off our "family members" that you may or not be familiar with.

The first person we would like recognize and say Happy Work Anniversary to is Gina Sweitzer. Gina is a Floating Teller and is celebrating 35+ years with First Neighbor Bank. Gina began working part-time on this day back in 1981 while in high school and continued while attending Lake Land College. She went full-time in after college, married in 1982 and took a leave in 1989 to have her first child. She returned to working with us in 1991 and the rest, so they say, is history.

You may see and interact with Gina at any of our nine branch locations. If you do, please help us in congratulating her on her work anniversary. Congratulations, Gina!
