Woodenskis.com

Woodenskis.com We are committed to preserving the heritage of skiing with wooden skis and to sharing history of this There is a very rich history here in Minnesota.

We sell vintage wooden skis on-line from about September1 to April 1 each year. We take the spring and summer months off from selling, to replenish our ski supply. We also spend much time researching the history of ski manufacturers and ski history. Our home base is in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, near the original home of Strand Ski Company, Northland Ski Company, Lund Ski Company, Gregg Ski Compa

ny, and Hart Ski Company. All of the money made selling vintage skis is donated to ski organizations to help support this great sport.

If anyone is interested in vintage Bonna wooden skis, send us a note. We have a friend in the Vermont area that wants to unload some of their collection.

In the mean time, we are not planning to advertise skis for sale this winter, due to our major move of residence. We are still un-packing and settling in. We are still actively involved in the wooden ski knowledge and historical world, so our passion is still there. Think snow!

Starting in the early 1930s, wooden skis were laminated. As time went on, the laminations became more complicated. This cut-away from a Madshus Birkebeiner wooden ski shows the different laminations used. Description of the components was taken from the 1974 book "Ski Cross Country", by Brady/Sjemstad.
