One of our latest design/build projects. This backyard had some serious drainage issues and lacked interest. We graded the yard and installed a drainage system which is working great. We redesigned the landscape to include visually pleasing and varied plantings, river rock swales, boulders, and stepping stone walkways. To add the finishing touch, we installed beautiful zeon zoysia sod.

This was a fun project for some wonderful clients in Lakewood. We removed some old and overgrown shrubs and plants, cleaned up their bed spaces, and planted a gorgeous perennial garden. We also removed some rotting timber retention walls and replaced them with a series of segmental block walls and steps for terraced access to the garden. We then revamped two patio areas by removing pavers and replacing them with bluestone. Existing brickwork was mimicked to create a seamless look. I love how this turned out. We were able to add what our clients wanted without destroying the existing elements that they wanted to keep and without ending up with a hodge podgy result.

Owning a small family business can be extremely challenging. Our kids have shared in the challenges. They've grown up spending lots of time on the road running errands with mom, eating way too much chick-fil-a on the run 😉, being brought along to site visits, helping with finishing touches on jobs, and so on. But we've also had loads of good times and feel blessed to have had so much time together. And now they're older and pitching in and learning new skills, Matthew working in the field and Mikaela learning bookwork...for pay of course. We work hard, together as a family, and if I stop and think, I have to say the blessings outweigh the challenges.

Happy anniversary to us. 22 years! Next month will mark 17 years in business together. We make a good team. So thankful ...
