📚✨ Celebrating Dolly Parton Day! ✨📚
Today, September 25, we celebrate Dolly Parton Day and a legacy that reaches far beyond music — especially Dolly’s incredible commitment to helping children discover the joy of reading. ❤️
In 1995, Dolly launched Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, inspired in part by her father’s inability to read and write. What began as a program for children in her home county in Tennessee has grown into an international early-literacy program spanning five countries.
📖 So, what is the Imagination Library?
Through the program, registered children from birth to age 5 can receive a FREE, high-quality, age-appropriate book mailed directly to their home every month, regardless of their family’s income, where the program is available.
And the impact is incredible:
📚 More than 300 million books have been gifted since the program began.
📬 More than 3 million books are mailed each month around the world.
🌎 The program now reaches children in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and Republic of Ireland.
❤️ Here in Illinois, more than 108,000 children are currently receiving books through the program, with more than 5 million books delivered in Illinois since 2005!
Dolly has shown us what an incredible difference one person can make by believing in children, literacy and their dreams.
Today is a wonderful reminder to read with a child, share a favorite book, support early literacy, or check to see if a child in your life is eligible for the Imagination Library.
Because sometimes a little book can inspire a BIG dream. 📖💫
Happy Dolly Parton Day! 💕🤠
