🙌Happy High Five Friday 🙌
As you know these posts are to celebrate someone doing great things in our community. Being , every Friday this month will be about an exceptional woman, and today I introduce you to Judy Neff.
Judy is co-owner and brewer at Checkerspot Brewing Co. Judy’s love of brewing started back in 2005, which led to with a start up kit from Maryland Homebrew, which led to homebrewing in the basement brewery with 8 taps, to finally opening Checkerspot in 2018 with her husband, Rob. She has a PhD in microbiology from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and after a stint at the NIH and at a start-up company running the lab, she decided to pivot and go full force into the wonderful world of beer. She helped start the in 2012, a craft beer appreciation group for women and is a proud member of the . In the last year and a half, Rob and Judy purchased a building, gutted and renovated it, and opened what we now know to be Checkerspot Brewing Co. in Pigtown. With this move, the SoBo Brewery District was founded, which includes Wico Street Beer Co and Pickett Brewing Company

Today I have the extreme honor of recognizing Patrice Bullock with Bailey’s Heart & Soul Foundation - Bailey Bullock's Heart & Soul Foundation. Patrice lost her son, Bailey, in 2021 to sudden cardiac arrest. Patrice has made it her mission to bring life saving medical equipment to local schools and educate people on how to use them, so that no one else needlessly to lose a child. She is a champion, a warrior, and a survivor! 🫶

I was honored to spend yesterday with so many wonderful people at the Business Conference 2024. Thanks to Catherine E Trotter and E-Bless for putting on such a well thought out and inspiring event. I can't wait to get to work! It was great seeing my friend Danny Djossou and connecting in person with DrLeroy Mckenzie Jr. , Christopher Charles Hampton (I am the CHAMP!), Tara Gregory Trichology & Salons, LLC, Regina Robinson, Violesia Tull , Darryl Kemp, and many more. I was truly inspired by each of you! I'm looking forward to seeing what 2024 has in store for us!

If you ask the most successful real estate agent you know when the best time to buy or sell your next house is, I guarantee they'll say, "right now"!
And if you ask them if interest rate should be a deterrent, again, I guarantee they'll say, "no way"!

Here's why - There are 3 possible outcomes (regarding rate) when buying a home today.
1. You lock in now, and rates go up. No need to worry because you have a better rate than if you waited. You win!
2. You lock in now, and rates stay the same, and you rest easy because you have the most competitive rate possible. You win!
3. You lock in now, and rates go down in 12 months. But instead of getting into a bidding war with 10 other buyers that also waited, and possibly over paying, you already have your home and refi to a lower rate in about 30 days. You win!!
