This was me at the Armed Forces Network radio station on the Army Garrison in Wiesbaden, Hesse, Germany in 2018. I was there working with Army soldiers on their personal finances and part of the job required me to present a weekly radio show on money that was broadcast at all the US military bases in the country. Was I scared? Of course I was (I had never even been in a radio studio before in the United States let alone overseas), but it was part of the job and I knew I was expected to do my best.

When I first start working with a new client, I ask them to pull together information about their current financial situation including account balances, interest rates, terms, policy amounts and more. Often a client can access most of what I am asking for but sometimes there is one or two items that they can't find.

This is why it's great to get organized and set up a system where you can easily reference any financial document you have before you need them. If you need a place to start consider this book: Organize Your Personal Finances In No Time by Debbie Stanley. It is a simple and straightforward guide to pulling all your financial records and documents together so you can get any information you need at a moment's notice. Happy organizing!

I learned to save money.

Describe your first experience handling your money on your own?

I got a bank account in my teens, and put my money into it from babysitting.

How do you manage your money today? What is one thing you enjoy about managing your money and what is one struggle you have with it?

I manage my money on a budget with my husband. I struggle with wanting to shop for makeup!

What are your short and long term financial goals and why are these priorities for you? *

Short term goals are to provide for my family, long term goals are to have a good college savings for our child!
