Rising rates have grabbed headlines, but they're only one inning in a much longer game. Easing inflation, healthy consumer spending and growing corporate profits point to an economy that remains on solid footing.

Investment Analyst Brock Weimer shares insights from market history, exploring how stocks have performed following sharp increases in bond yields and what those trends may signal for investors in the latest Weekly Market Wrap: https://bit.ly/3U3YqlP

Bond yields recently climbed to their highest levels in decades as investors weighed sticky inflation, booming AI investment and robust economic growth. In this evolving environment, higher interest rates are creating new opportunities in fixed income while shifting market leadership across equities.

One of the things I love about The Villages is the variety of social clubs. With roughly 3,000 clubs, there seems to be something for just about every interest.

Kim and I moved here from Iowa 11 years ago, so we quickly joined the Iowa Club. We’ve also belonged to three neighborhood social clubs, starting with the Lake Ridge Loopers, as well as the Parrot Head Club and the Disney-focused Goofy Villagers.

Then there are all the clubs I haven’t joined but find fascinating: several quilting clubs, clubs that organize trips to favorite Florida beaches, and car clubs for Mustang, Corvette, and even Rolls-Royce enthusiasts. There are also singles clubs and groups for widows and widowers. I even met a man who told me he was formerly with the CIA and that a small group of former CIA people gets together here!

Which Villages club have you enjoyed most, or which one would you like to try? I’d love to hear what makes it special to you—and learn about a few clubs I haven’t discovered yet.

The Fed raised interest rates for the first time in three years, as widely expected. While the announcement prompted an initial market reaction, resilient economic growth, strong corporate earnings and continued consumer spending could help support equities, even if interest rates move somewhat higher. Meanwhile, higher short-term bond yields may create new opportunities for investors seeking income.
