Medicareful is Your Chance to be Bold

One of our major accomplishments in 2014 was building a multi-plan, CMS-accepted website for our agents. Problem was, the website was generic. Agents asked us to add plan-specific information, premiums, benefits, deductibles and WE LISTENED!!

Now, after two years of development and compliance investments, we are VERY PLEASED to release the latest version of Medicareful.com, customized for our agents.

The refreshed Medicareful.com is a multi-plan filed, CMS-accepted website tailored with your unique contact info. It features a consumer-facing quote engine and CMS-compliant permission-to-contact form, so every lead you get is compliant and directed straight to you!

CMS has been strict on plans/Part D sponsor’s oversight of third-party marketing websites. You can trust that with Medicareful, we’ve made a tremendous effort to ensure you’re compliant.

Most agent websites include a “Contact Me” page. If your intent is to generate leads or permission to contact Medicare beneficiaries for the purpose of marketing any Medicare Advantage product, your website is required to be filed with CMS. Medicareful.com is filed in its entirety with CMS and features a CMS-accepted permission-to-contact form that gives you the ability to reach consumers in a compliant manner. The new addition of the consumer-facing quote engine built with carrier data was also accepted by CMS on October 11, 2015.

If you already have a website and you sell MA/MAPD and PDP products, Medicareful.com is essential to keep you compliant. Further, we believe you and your clients will find the website very professional looking, easy to navigate and loaded with useful benefit and premium information. Simply link from your website to the custom Medicareful.com website we build for you.

If you don’t already have a website, you can either make Medicareful.com your primary website or work with our partners at AgentMethods.com to quickly and cheaply build your own website for a monthly fee.

Unlike Medicare Quote Engine, an agent-facing tool that provides all MA/MAPD and PDP plan information, Medicareful.com is a consumer-facing website that had to be filed with each insurance company. Because of this, unfortunately, we had two of the smaller MA plans opt out, so their information is not displaying.

Your clients don’t need to submit anything but a zip code, and Medicareful will lay out the plans available with premiums, easy-to-read plan specs, and an option to view detailed SBCs.

This program is available to all of our agents contracted with an MA, PDP, and Med Supp through Ritter.

We want you on board! Stay tuned for more information about how to get your own Medicareful site!

UnitedHealth Warns It May Exit ACA Market

There’s more trouble in the Affordable Care Act waters. UnitedHealth Group, the largest insurer in America, downgraded its earnings forecast for 2015, claiming its marketplace plans were thumping its bottom line.

In short, United questioned the long-term stability of it’s exchange business and expressed an unwillingness to subsidize the business going forward.

According to UnitedHealth, people who purchase plans on the public exchanges set up by the Affordable Care Act are typically the heaviest users of the health care system. These increased claims have drained the insurer’s profits.

Investors were warned that UnitedHealth expected to reap $425 million less in revenue during the fourth quarter than originally forecast. The company has not committed to leaving or staying on the public exchanges, but will determine during the first half of 2016 to what extent it will offer marketplace plans in 2017.

It hasn’t been a good year for insurers on the exchanges, particularly CO-OPs started with federal funding. Nearly all closures or threatened closures cite underwhelming growth actualities and far less healthy enrollees’ claims draining reserves.

Just Announced for 2016
November 10, 2015

Due to an overwhelming show of support from both seniors and their advocates (us), congress attached a Medicare deductible/premium fix into the recently-signed budget deal.

Based on this legislation, the $233 Part B deductible was averted and will not be anywhere close to that!

2016 Medicare Deductible Information Announced Posted on November 10, 2015 On November 2, 2015, President Obama signed the budged deal that will ride out his last term. Included in that bill was the fix for the Medicare Part B premium and deductible. This fix averted the potential $223 deductible that, otherwise, Part B was going to have. Part B deductible for 2016 will be $166. The premiums seniors pay for Part B of Medicare will be changing for those that are starting Medicare on or after January 1, or those seniors already on Medicare but not currently drawing Social Security income. The base premium for Part B for those two groups will be $121.80, plus a $3 monthly fee to pay back the US Treasury for the borrowing that makes this possible. The big takeaway is that the Part B deductible, important for Plan G and Plan N Medicare Supplement users, is only going up by $19 to $166. In Chris’ office, the typical savings vs. Plan F for folks is typically found to be $300 to $500 per year and the new deductible still makes Plan G every bit a good value as it has been.
