At the Best of River Valley Awards Gala Wednesday night, we not only had the honor of receiving silver in the category of Best Credit Union, but also the honor of being the Nonprofit Sponsor! 👏

LSU Health Sciences Foundation Shreveport was our stop for yesterday’s grant award! 💜💛

The “Geaux Goods” food pantry is a staple on campus for LSUHS students, residents, fellows, faculty, and staff in need. 📦🍓🥕🥦

However, they don’t just prioritize nutrition for these future health professionals. They also incorporate overall wellness with cooking classes, a free exercise facility for students, mental health workshops, and even a garden from which a student-led organization works to supply the food pantry directly. 👩‍⚕️🧑‍⚕️

According to national collegiate health research cited by LSUHS at the launch of the food pantry, about 50% of college and professional students across the nation experience food insecurity at some point during their academic career. 🎓 This is why faculty decided to step in and create these services that acknowledge these issues.

Lunch was donated by Bistro To Go, so the team that helps feed the LSUHS campus got to enjoy themselves a nice meal, too!! 😁

Another day of giving started with Alex, one of our awesome Fort Smith employees, picking up a lunch donated by Benson's Grill and heading over to The Next Step Homeless Services! 🍔

This nonprofit has been at the forefront of combatting homelessness in Fort Smith for over twenty years. Not only do they assist individuals with housing, but they also provide meals, hygiene products, mail pickups, and clothing items. 👕🧦 Last year, they served nearly two-hundred clients with their housing facilities, eighteen being families and fifty being veterans. They try and offer a holistic approach to target the issues of their clients so that they can help them journey out of homelessness. Eighty-three percent moved on to permanent housing in 2025. 🏠

In Texarkana, we stopped by the Collins Home for Weddings and Events, which is a historic building that local philanthropist Ben Collins funded to house retired and widowed women. Since its creation in 1929, it seems this home has been a pillar of goodness. ❤️ HandsOn Texarkana is located in the building, and they strive to improve the quality of life of seniors by transporting those who have no means to get around while also supplying them with resources they need to get by. They operate their Senior Transportation and Pantry Program to combat the isolation that many elderly individuals face daily. 🚘 Say Grace Txk helped us once again by donating meals to show our appreciation for the work the employees and volunteers here do. 🥰

P.S. The Collins Home can be rented out for events such as baby showers, birthday parties, and weddings. ALL proceeds from event rental go toward supporting the mission of HandsOn Texarkana! 🎉

We’re excited to celebrate CitySquare Paris as a recipient of a $10,000 RRCU Gives grant! 🎉

CitySquare Paris works to meet the needs of individuals and families facing difficult circumstances by providing food assistance, access to supportive services, meals, case management, and other resources that help people move toward stability and self-sufficiency.

Through its programs, CitySquare Paris serves neighbors experiencing food insecurity and other challenges, helping ensure they have access to the support and resources they need.

We aren’t done yet!!! 🏁

Hunt County Shared Ministries is a longstanding and very happening nonprofit in Greenville, and we were elated to stop in and check on their operations! 😃

From a refrigerated locker system where busy, struggling families can pick up groceries on the go to a fully stocked grocery store and a developing community center that will enable further outreach efforts, this organization is one to keep an eye on. 🛒🤩

They certainly deserved the catered lunch supplied by Glenda's Cafe, which is a local staple! 🥪

And let’s not forget about The CALL in Hempstead and Nevada Counties, empowering foster families through training and support that helps them fulfill their duties to the children in their care. This organization has helped establish new homes to alleviate the local placement load so that kids can enter healthier, happier environments. 🏡

Say Grace Txk made a perfect lunch of southwest chicken bowls for the crew here, and we think we will be going to pick this special up next Tuesday if it’s on the menu again. 😍🌶️

We’re excited to celebrate United Families of America as a recipient of a $3,500 RRCU Gives grant! 🎉

Operating locally through We Are Washington Community Development Center, United Families of America works to address food insecurity in our community by providing food assistance to families in need, serving meals to vulnerable populations, and helping ensure seniors have access to nutritious meals.

This grant will help support their food pantry efforts and meal programs for seniors, allowing them to continue making a meaningful impact on the lives of those they serve.

We’re proud to support their mission and the difference they’re making across the Texarkana area. Congratulations, United Families of America! 💙

Two of our nonprofit visits last week…💙

United Families of America-AR was first on the list. Located in the community development center that is We Are Washington, this organization helps combat food insecurity across the community—specifically among the elderly population. 📦🍎

We took them some goodies from H&H Bakes and Treats because they deserve a sweet treat for their efforts. 😋

We also stopped by CitySquare Paris to check out their amazing facility, where daily meals are had and community is encouraged. They allow neighbors to come in and shower and do their laundry, as well as shop for clothes if they are running low or need a particular garment. 👔🚿

The resources they provide don’t stop here, as they have a staff member dedicated to helping neighbors find healthcare, jobs, and even housing opportunities. 🤝

They also host annual coat drives and other events to promote community and serve the people who rely on their facility. 🧥☺️

Roadhouse Family Diner supplied a lunch for their staff to enjoy, and it looked tasty. 🍽️
