September is full of moments that show just how far determination and innovation can take us. As a team focused on helping our community stay protected and prepared, we always appreciate the milestones that highlight the power of progress.
Here are three September breakthroughs we’re celebrating:
🫀 September 2, 1952 – The University of Minnesota surgical team completed the first successful open-heart surgery using a hypothermia technique that temporarily stopped blood flow, opening the door to modern heart procedures.
🚀 September 5, 1977 – NASA launched Voyager 1, now the farthest human-made object in space, carrying the Golden Record as a message from Earth to anyone who might find it.
🏗️ September 30, 1935 – Construction began on the Hoover Dam during the Great Depression, ultimately finishing ahead of schedule and becoming one of the most iconic engineering achievements in the country.
These historic milestones remind us how much can be achieved when people push boundaries and stay committed to building a better future—something we strive for every day as we help protect homes, businesses, and families across Texas.
