You show up to a new unit, you’re the new guy, and you’ve got “leaders” who can’t lead. Team leaders, squad leaders, platoon guys who only outrank you because they’ve been around longer, not because they perform better.

You’re faster, stronger, better PFT, you know your MOS inside out… but you’re a boot, so you get pushed to the back and thrown on every working party.

And the same thing happens in business, people confuse seniority with leadership.

But here’s the truth: seniority doesn’t create leaders. Action and performance do.

So what’s the solution?
Start promoting the people who execute. The ones who show up, outperform, take initiative, and lift others around them.
If you build teams based on performance, not time served, you create real leadership, in the Marines, in business, and in life.

November 10th, we celebrated the 250th Marine Corps Birthday 🇺🇸

Presented by Save the Brave, carrying on the tradition we started 14 years ago at Bastards, the original blueprint. A lot of people host celebrations now, and that’s all good, but everyone knows where this tradition came from and who kept it alive after the Corps.

Now we continue it at our new home, in Huntington Beach 🌊🇺🇸
