Great advice Mike!!

Oh Dam...

With the extreme cold here in MA, we are starting to see ice dams build up on our roofs.

The lower temperature at the eaves of your home causes ice to build up. And as the temperature increases, melting the snow on the roof, the water gets trapped at the ice dam.

This water then gets under the shingles, causing damage to the roof and potential interior water damage in your home.

The best way to prevent this is the clear 3 to 4 feet of snow from the edge of the roof with a roof rake or to melt the ice dam with Calcium Chloride.

Be careful not to use Rock Salt or Sodium Chloride, as these can damage your roof.

We also don't recommend that you use a hammer or blow torch as these could cause additional issues 😃
