🚨 Attention — Health Insurance Open Enrollment Alert 🚨
HERE ARE ACTUAL EXAMPLES OF COST INCREASES.
This year’s open enrollment season is not business as usual. If you purchase health insurance on your own (outside of an employer plan), you need to pay very close attention to what’s happening — because your costs could skyrocket.
Here’s what’s going on:
⏳ What’s Changed
The enhanced subsidies (premium tax credits) that were boosting many people’s coverage under the American Rescue Plan Act and extended temporarily are set to expire at the end of 2025, unless Congress acts.
Without those subsidies, people buying plans on the individual marketplaces (for example under Affordable Care Act / ACA exchanges) will likely face much higher monthly premiums. For many, the government aid that kept their bills down will be greatly reduced, or gone.
Insurers have already filed rate proposals showing average increases of about 18% (just for the premium portion), with potentially much worse when you factor in loss of subsidies.
💸 What This Means for You (or someone like you)
If you were counting on a subsidy to keep your premium manageable, that’s not guaranteed anymore.
A premium that seemed OK this year could become unaffordable next year. Example: one state found that for a certain income a monthly payment could go from $0 this year to $450 or more next year — just because subsidy levels drop.
Across the country: in some markets, people are seeing increases in the 20-30% range—or worse—just due to subsidy expiration and health-cost pressures.
Open Enrollment is your window to act. If you wait and assume things will stay the same — you could get hit with a nasty surprise.
✅ What You Should Do
Book a call NOW (I’m here to help) to review your current plan, your income, your options.
We’ll assess what your premium and subsidy situation might look like for 2026 and beyond.
We’ll explore alternative plans (possibly lower-cost tiers, higher deductible, etc) so you’re prepared.
I’ll walk you through the deadline for your state’s marketplace (for most states: Nov 1, 2025 through Jan 15, 2026) so you don’t miss the opportunity.
📞 Let’s Get Ahead of It
Don’t let this sneak up on you. Many people only notice after they get a shocker bill or their renewal hits — by then it’s late.
If you want to avoid spending more than you have to, or being caught with a plan that doesn’t fit your budget or needs, let’s talk. Send me a message and we’ll schedule 15-20 mins to explore your situation, check your subsidy eligibility, and craft a game plan for this year’s open enrollment.
🔍 Bottom line: Subsidies that lowered your cost may not be as generous next year. Premiums are rising. You need to act now to protect yourself and your family from unexpected costs.
