Read your contracts carefully before signing them, especially if it comes from an unsolicited vendor.
Some contracts now include a "letter of protection" clause. Basically, it means that a vendor can put a "mechanic's lien" against your home if they don't receive payment for their work. So if you try to sue your insurance company and your lawsuit is unsuccessful - you could end up losing your home!
Be careful, Mr. & Ms. Homeowner - your contractor just might not have your best interests at heart.
