📣 As of today, Hurricane Helene 🌀 has strengthened into a significant storm in the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to intensify further before making landfall on the Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday. Currently a Category 1 hurricane, it is forecasted to strengthen into a Category 3 storm by the time it reaches Florida’s Big Bend area.

Helene is bringing life-threatening storm surges, with flooding expected along much of the Florida Gulf Coast, especially near Apalachee Bay, where surges could reach up to 15 feet. Winds are predicted to be as high as 125 mph, and there are warnings for widespread flash flooding and property damage across Florida and into southern Georgia.

Officials have issued evacuation orders for many counties along Florida’s Gulf Coast, with preparations strongly urged before Thursday's landfall.
