From a colleague:
“We had a visit from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at the high-end antique store where I sell today. Several taxidermy birds were confiscated as well as taxidermy bats. I personally do not sell these, but learned that it is illegal to sell taxidermy migratory birds like geese (including feathers, nests and eggs) as well as many non-migratory songbirds. We already knew about the ban on eagle parts and leopard skins (which were used in vintage hats and bags), but this was an addition that we were not aware of. There are many exceptions (that require licenses) and I won't go into those here, but I thought I would share this for the appraisal community. Hope it is helpful.”
