WASHINGTON CLIENTS TAKE NOTE: Washington Cares Act. (Formerly known as the Long Term Care Trust Act)

What is it:
> Payroll tax applied to all W2 Income earned in the State of WA. (Salary, Commission, Bonus, Stock, etc.).
> Tax starts on Jan 1, 2022 and is payable for as long as you work in WA.
> 0.58% of income with no income cap.

What do you get for this Tax?:
> A state sponsored Long Term Care "Insurance Policy."
>$100/day State benefit for up to a year if you ever require Long Term Care Services in the State of WA. ($36,500 Total Value)

Why is this important for you to know now?
> Currently there is an option for you to Opt out of the tax should you already have a Long Term Care policy in place.
> If you do not have one in place, you will need to implement one before November of THIS YEAR.

NOTES:
> Private coverage can be significantly more valuable if you are able to qualify.
> If you have a Life Insurance Policy (outside of your employer's policy) look to see if it has a Long Term Care Rider. If it does, you may be exempt already and not know it.
> Underwriting on a private policy could take 2+ months so you will want to address this sooner than later.

This is a very broad overview of the tax. Please ask questions in the Comment section or Click the link to schedule time if you want to talk about your specific scenario.

Thanks,
Ryan
