A quick, informative podcast episode about the announcement that CMS is ending part D subsidies. Bottom line….it is not necessary to panic yet and please keep an eye out for Annual Notice of Change that should arrive sometime mid-late September. 🌻

Yesterday, on many news outlets, reports were made about the end of stand alone part D subsidies for 2027. This was a short term effort to keep part D premiums stable as plans absorbed and assessed the effects of inflation reduction act regulations on their costs. This may mean an increase to stand alone part D premiums, but there are other ways for plans to address this loss of revenue. It will not affect anything for the rest of 2026. Stay tuned as I learn more I’ll post updates. No need to panic.🌻

The very worst part of my work is when clients die. I’ve visited with some of these wonderful people for over a decade… through retirement, children/grandchildren’s weddings, ups, downs, sharing about changes in my life, working through coverage changes, etc. I cherish all those moments and relationships. It will never, ever get easier to get that phone call. Rest in peace to Dick O… who was a stickler for details, smart as a whip, a coffee cake aficionado and a heck of a gentleman. I’ll be so sad to not see him this fall. :(
