I'm thrilled that DCM is joining Rockbridge Investment Management as the dedicated investment advisory practice focused on foundations, endowments, not-for-profits, and institutions.
DCM has had an exclusive institutional focus while Rockbridge has had a focus on individuals. That's not accidental - when Bob Ryan, Craig Buckhout, and I formed DCM in 2015 that was the intention; to attain scale in each business with specialization. Now that we've attained it in each client arena, we can combine the specializations within a larger organization without losing the unique processes and attention that different types of client portfolios and relationships require.
A partnership like this is made so much easier by already having a long history of cooperation and collaboration between the firms. We've shared staff, technology, investment philosophy, and even the same address - Rockbridge on the 9th floor and DCM on the 10th. We've enjoyed that close informal relationship so long that formalizing it is easy, pleasant, and almost a non-event. Almost...
The wonderful surprise is that there's a much bigger difference than I thought between cooperation and actually working together daily in the same place. DCM has moved from the 10th floor of our building to the Rockbridge offices on the 9th floor, but the leap forward in terms of our capacity, capabilities, and teamwork is so much more than that small move would suggest.
We truly are "better together."
By uniting under the Rockbridge banner, we bring the expertise, scale and resources of a $1.4 billion firm to bear for the benefit of all our institutional clients - here in CNY and across the country.
I can't wait to tell you more about it!
