❤️ Some people come into your life and leave an impression that stays with you for decades.

When I was in my early 20s and a very young mom, I had the opportunity to attend one of Dr. Mary A. Nelson’s Back-to-School Barbeques on the South Side of Syracuse.

I still remember the dancing, the laughter, the incredible food, and the joy of seeing children, families, and neighbors come together. As a young mom, seeing that kind of community support left a lasting impression on me.

It was never just about backpacks, school supplies, or a barbecue. It was about hope, opportunity, connection, and showing young people that their community cares.

I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Mary A. Nelson during those early years, and her dedication stayed with me.

Aaron and I are so excited and honored to attend and support the continued growth of the Mary Nelson Youth Center and the opportunities it creates for young people and families in Syracuse.

For me, this is more than attending a gala. It is a chance to reconnect with someone who inspired me years ago and celebrate what one person’s commitment to a community can become. ❤️

❤️ As Fire Prevention Week comes to a close…

I’m feeling incredibly grateful for the community partners who help us make fire prevention education possible — our fire departments, libraries, daycares, schools, caregivers, parents, grandparents and so many others who help us reach our little Fire Safety Heroes. 🚒🐾❤️

Fire safety is especially important to our family. My husband is a firefighter, so I’ve seen firsthand the dedication and courage that goes into helping families when they need it most.

And in my work, I have the privilege of helping people protect the homes, belongings and futures they have worked so hard for.

One of the hardest parts of being your local insurance agent is hearing the stories that come after something unexpected happens — the moments when families are facing loss, uncertainty and difficult decisions.

Those conversations stay with you.

But what helps me through those difficult moments is knowing that we did everything we could to prepare our families before the unexpected happened.

We talked about fire safety.
We shared prevention tips.
We encouraged families to make a plan.
We helped them understand their coverage.
And we worked together to put the best protection in place for their individual needs.

Because while we can’t always prevent the unexpected, we can prepare for it.

That is why Fire Prevention Week means so much to me — and why I am so grateful for every community partner who opens their doors, shares our message and helps us educate the next generation of Fire Safety Heroes. ❤️

When charging on a plane, keep portable charging devices on the tray table. Do not charge devices in overhead compartments and never charge e-cigarettes or vapes on a plane. If a battery overheats or fails, it is important for the flight crew to be able to respond quickly.

The days of being out on the water, enjoying the sunshine, and making summer memories are winding down. Now comes the not-so-fun part — getting the boat ready for winter storage!

As you prepare your boat for the off-season, it’s also a great time to review your boat insurance and understand how your coverage may apply while your boat is being stored.

✔️ How your coverage may apply while your boat is stored
✔️ Whether the coverage you selected still fits your boat and equipment

What a special morning at the Cortland Library! 📚❤️🔥

This morning was filled with so much fun, laughter, and learning thanks to Tammy, Dylan, all the wonderful parents, grandparents, caregivers, and of course, so many little Fire Safety Heroes! 🚒🐾❤️

Tammy’s passion for what she does truly shines through. You can feel how much she cares about creating a welcoming, fun, and meaningful place for children and families. ❤️ Everyone was so incredibly welcoming, and I absolutely loved being there!

Since it’s Fire Prevention Week, we also had the opportunity to talk about some simple safety reminders our little ones can take home:

🔥 When charging devices, always charge them on a hard, flat surface like a table, desk, or counter—not on a bed, couch, or other soft surface.

🔥 If something feels warm or hot when it shouldn’t, tell an adult. Never ignore something that seems unusually hot.

🔥 And if there is ever a fire or emergency, get outside and call 911. 🚒

And a very special thank you to this little Fire Safety Hero and his family for asking us to be part of a picture with him. ❤️📸 What a wonderful way to capture such a special moment in his life—and one we will remember, too!

I already cannot wait to bring my grandson to the Cortland youth library soon! 🥰

And let me tell you… this is so much more than a place to read. 📚✨

There are tons of books, activities, toys, and opportunities for our little ones to explore, learn, imagine, and simply be kids. For those littles who are always on the move, it truly feels like a place designed just for them. ❤️

A library can be a place to read and grow, but the Cortland Library truly feels like a place to EXPLORE. 🌟

Thank you, Tammy, Dylan, and everyone at the library for welcoming us and for everything you do for the children and families in our community. ❤️
