Every year, my family and I are proud sponsors of the annual Summers Corner Christmas event—an event I’m also honored to help organize. This year, a local news station reached out to feature the celebration, and I’m so grateful they captured what it truly means to our community.
It’s amazing to see how much the event has grown over the years, and there’s something really special about coming together with our neighbors to celebrate the Christmas season. We sponsor the free train rides for families, and we always leave with hearts that are full—exhausted, but full.
My kids are growing up so quickly, and I cherish these moments where we can create meaningful memories while they still experience the world through a child’s eyes. Events like this also provide meaningful financial support to local vendors in so many ways.
Throughout the day, we handed out more than 300 financial planning gift bags to families in our community, each including a financial planning checklist and a few other goodies to help set them up for a strong 2026.

Are you and your family protected?
At the end of every year I sit down with my clients, and we go through a financial planning checklist to make sure their financial plan is on track.

One of the many things we review is their life insurance. We protect our homes, our cars, even our phones, we should make sure we protect our families.

A rule of thumb is to make sure your life insurance covers at least your remaining debt, including your mortgage, and any income lost to your family or business should you pass away

Are You Prepared for a Financial Emergency?

A recent Empower study found that one-third of Americans have no emergency savings — a gap that becomes painfully clear during events like the recent government shutdown.

Thousands of government contractors are left without income, often forced to use PTO or face furloughs — and unlike federal employees, they don’t receive back pay when the shutdown ends.

That’s why we encourage clients to maintain 3–6 months of easily accessible emergency savings for situations like job loss, medical bills, or other unexpected expenses.

Remember: emergency savings aren’t for vacations or home upgrades — they’re your safety net when life happens.

Consider structuring your savings so it’s accessible, but not too easy to spend — such as through cash value life insurance, money market accounts or HSA's.

My job has two hats.

Had a wonderful time as one of the sponsors at our annual neighborhood winter festival.

It was so great getting to know fellow neighbors , drive the train around with my daughter, and just enjoy this special time of year with our community

We had a lady come to our booth and share with us that her and her husband have been clients of Northwestern Mutual for 47 years, 47!

She shared how their Northwestern Mutual advisor have helped them make sure they saved enough to put their three kids through college, save enough for retirement and now spoil their grandkids, with whom she was at the festival. All because of proper planning.

In the late 90s, acting on their advisor's suggestion, they bought long-term care policies from Northwestern Mutual. She shared how grateful she was for the foresight to do that, as today, these policies have proven invaluable as her husband requires additional assistance, and it covers all their essential needs.

Really grateful and proud to be part of a company that looks after their clients.
