Many homeowners and drivers already have standard insurance, but those policies aren’t always enough when a major claim or lawsuit happens. That’s where umbrella liability coverage makes a real difference.

Umbrella insurance adds an extra layer of protection when the costs go beyond what your home or auto policies can cover. It can help safeguard your savings, your assets, and your peace of mind—often for a surprisingly affordable annual premium.

At Clifford Insurance, our team helps families across Lake, Marion, and Sumter counties understand whether umbrella coverage is the right fit. If you’re curious about boosting your protection, we’re here to walk through the options and answer your questions.

Have you ever reviewed how much liability coverage you currently carry? Let us know in the comments or reach out to learn more.

Back-to-school season presents a good opportunity to ensure your kids are equipped with the habits and knowledge to stay safe throughout the school day. Here are some helpful tips to keep in mind:

🔵Make sure your children know their full names, your phone number, home addresses, and how to reach a trusted adult. A laminated safety card kept in their backpack with this info, plus any medical conditions, can be a good addition.

🔵Teach and reinforce proper hand-washing, and remind them not to share food or drink. These simple habits go a long way toward keeping illnesses from spreading through the classroom.

🔵A backpack should weigh no more than 15% of your child's body weight, and both straps should always be used to evenly distribute the load on your child’s back. An overstuffed bag can cause real strain over time.

🔵Talk with your child about bullying — how to recognize it, how to report it, and who their designated trusted adult at school is if they ever feel unsafe or need help.

🔵 Avoid putting your child's first name on the outside of backpacks or lunch boxes; initials or names on the inside are a safer option for labeling belongings.

At-school safety is a collective effort, and taking precautions for your students can help keep students across your community safe.

As always, if you have questions or other needs this school year, give us a call. We are here for you.

With hurricane season in full swing here in Florida, our team at Clifford Insurance wants to remind our community how important it is to review your insurance coverages before a storm ever forms.

Here are a few areas worth double-checking:

• Hurricane deductibles: Many homeowners policies in coastal states include a separate hurricane deductible based on a percentage of your home’s insured value. Know what triggers it and what your out-of-pocket cost would be.

• Flood and windstorm coverage: Flood insurance is typically a separate policy, and some policies may limit coverage for unnamed wind events. Making sure you have the right protection in place ahead of time can make all the difference.

• Filing claims: Before a storm, document your home’s condition. Afterward, record any damage with photos or videos before cleanup begins, and keep receipts for any repairs.

Our team is here to help you review your coverage and fill any gaps so you can head into the season with confidence. Have questions? Give us a call at (352) 245-5455.
